Major League

The most experienced level of Cal Ripken Baseball, recommended for 11 and 12-year-old players.  Cal Ripken Baseball is played under the Official Baseball Rules, but implements some special rules as necessary for the development and welfare of this young age group.  Features a 46' pitching distance and 60' base paths.  Advanced base running rules are also in effect.  This division includes a tournament trail from District competition through the World Series.

Majors Division is a competitive league focusing on developing advanced baseball skills.  Each team consists of approximately 12 players and uses a continuous batting order.  Every player must play a minimum of 2 innings in the field.  Attending all practices is extremely important so players form a cohesive team and improve their individual & team skills.

Evaluation and Draft Process:

Parents are encouraged to inform Coastal Cape Baseball as to their child’s willingness to play in either Majors or Minors.  Only those players willing and selected via a draft by Major Coaches will be selected and rostered on Major League Teams

  • All 12-year-old players are required to play Major League
  • Returning Major League players are automatically rostered to their previous season’s team
  • Prospective Major Leaguers must attend the evaluations held each year in March.  At these evaluations, player’s skills will be evaluated by experienced baseball evaluators who are Non-Major League Coaches
  • The Major League draft pool is assembled from this evaluation and provided to each Major League Head Coach with players being selected to a team by the Coach until rosters are full.  Siblings if selected are automatically placed on the same team
  • All remaining players will enter the Minor League draft and will be selected to a team by the Coaching Staffs
